Beth Hoss CPS/CAP Beth Hoss, an administrative secretary with Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Newport News, Va., is dedicated to corporate social responsibility and consistently reminds colleagues about the importance of giving back. As a United Way coordinator, for instance, she led her work team to reach 182 percent of its goal during a recent fundraising challenge. "Having a good education and providing quality service is important, but just as important is becoming involved and giving back to the community," Hoss says. "I am blessed and feel it is my obligation to share that with others in whatever way I can." Advice to administrative professionals: "Don't be afraid to try something new. You will be surprised at what you never knew you could do." Advice to managers: "The more a manager promotes his or her administrative professional, the more valued and motivated that person feels. Managers need to not only support their admins but also make sure they have the proper tools for the task. This can be in the form of educational seminars or training sessions." |
